The World Airport Awards are the most prestigious accolades for the airport industry, voted for by customers in the world’s largest annual airport customer satisfaction survey. They are considered the benchmark of quality for the global airport industry, rating customer service and facilities at over 550 airports. The survey and awards are independent of any airport control, influence or contribution. Analysis of the results shows a strong correlation with the number of customers using airports in 2021, a period when variable travel conditions remained in place in many parts of the world, and with the rapid return of air travel in the most of the world, more normal times are returning.
Edward Plaisted of Skytrax said: “We are delighted to announce that Hamad International Airport has been voted the World’s Best Airport for 2022, reiterating their success in 2021. Our congratulations go out to the management, staff and stakeholders of Hamad International Airport who all contributed to this feat for the second consecutive year. As airports around the world continued to be impacted by the pandemic throughout 2021, Hamad International Airport served 17.1 million passengers in 2021 and continued with its expansion plans.
As the Official Airport Partner of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, we wish Hamad International Airport every success in helping to host this major event. Our congratulations go to all the award-winning airports here today, for whom the last two years have been extremely difficult to cope with the many restrictions of COVID-19 and the sharp drop in travel demand.
With air travel rapidly returning to a more normal level, the challenge for all airports now is to provide the highest standards to customers with heightened travel expectations.
