Evergreen Increases Rates Before the Peak Season
23.09.2009

The Taiwanese shipping company Evergreen Lines has announced that starting from the 1st of October it plans to launch a rate recovery program on its routes from Europe and the Mediterranean region to the Middle East, Australia, and the countries of the Indian subcontinent.

The rates increase will apply to all types of containers. The rates for shipping cargo from Europe to India and the Middle East (including Red Sea and Persian Gulf) will be increased by $100 for each TEU. The rates for shipments from the Mediterranean Region to India, Australia, the Middle East and the Far East will be increased by $150 for each TEU.

Evergreen Lines motivates its decision by growing operational expenses before the peak season when the number of orders and cargo volumes usually grow very sharply.

Earlier, Evergreen Line announced that starting from October the company would increase the bunker fuel surcharges for all shipments from North America on a number of directions.
