India Infrastructure and Logistics Pvt Ltd (IILPL) has started preparing the launching of a new regular container train from Samalka (state of Hariana, North-Western India) to the Port of Javaharlal which is situated in Mumbai. The company has already acquired a 20 ha piece of land to prepare the infrastructure at Samalka station. The company official announcement says this project will allow IILPL to offer its clients a wide range of transportation services connecting India’s ports with the country’s hinterland regions. Currently IILPL has already organized nine container trains offering weekly services between container terminals in Delhi and the ports of Mundra and Nhiava Sheva.
The company has also received an approval from the Indian Ministry for Transport to launch regular trains from Samalika to the port of Mundra. IILPL director Amitabh Chaudri said that after the Samalka project is launched the company will start organizing regular container trains to the country’s ports from a number of other cities. “If the project is successful we will launch additional regular trains from Panapit, Kajtal, Jindah, Rohtak, Bhivan, and other cities. We have invested some $6 million in the Samalka project where regular trains will be launched already by the middle of next financial year. We forecast that some 4 thousand TEU will be transported over this new route every month” - he noted. The joint company is one of the largest container owners in India. It also possesses specialized rolling stock, automobile units, and logistics infrastructure facilities. |
