According to the information received from the German Society for the Rescue of Shipwrecked, a German container vessel had sunk near the coast of Africa, however all crew have been rescued.

The container vessel belongs to Werse company and it was flying the flag of Cyprus.

It is still unclear why the incident happened: there were no strong wind or waves. According to initial information, the captain has reported a hole in the vessel. After that the vessel crew were evacuated using lifeboats. The see depth at the place of the incident is about 2 thousand meters.

Earlier on the 16th of September the container vessel Maersk Kendal with a capacity of 6,200 TEU ran aground near the island of Sebarok some 9 kilometers south of Singapore. The vessel was flying the flag of Great Britain and traveling to the Malaysian port of Tanjung Pelepas. According to the official information, the vessel was not damaged and no fuel leakage was reported.
