Evergreen Introduces Additional Bunker Surcharge

The Taiwanese container line Evergreen has decided to introduce an additional bunker fuel surcharge for cargo shipping from North America. Starting from the 1st of October 2009, an additional bunker fuel surcharge of $150-500 will be charged for all cargo shipped from North America to Asia, Australia, and the Middle East.

Starting from the 15th of october 2009 Evergreen also introduces an additional bunker fuel surcharge for cargo shipping from North America to Europe. Here, the surcharge will amount to $150 for 20 foot containers, $250 for 40 foot containers, and $250 for 40 foot refrigerator containers.

As the company press service reports, the surcharge is introduced due to a sharp increase of bunker fuel prices and it will apply to all cargo shipped over the Pacific.
