Ukrtranscontainer Appoints New CEO

Ukrtranscontainer, the subsidiary unit of National Container Company (NCC), has appointed Vladimir Popov as a new CEO. During the period between May and September of 2009 this position was temporarily occupied by NCC vice-president for Southern region Valentin Varvarenko.

Vladimiro Popov has more than 15 years of experience in transport, logistics and port industries. He has been holding top positions in forwarding, shipping, and stevedore companies in Europe and in North America, where he was responsible for developing management, commercial, and operational strategies.

“After many years of professional experience in the industry, Vladimir Popov has established himself a reputation for being a skillful anti-crisis manager who deserves respect from the top managers of the leading shipping and forwarding companies. His main task in Ukrtranscontainer is to resume the company’s operations and to secure further development of the most modern container terminal on the territory of Ukraine” - commented on the appointment NCC president Alena Ashurkova.

Ukrtranscontainer (Illichivsk, Odessa region, Ukraine) is a container terminal with a current annual throughput capacity of some 850 thousand TEU, which can be expanded to 4 million TEU.

National Container Company (NCC) is the largest container terminal operator in Russia and the CIS countries. The company was created in 2002 and is equally owned by First Quantum and FESCO Transport Group.
