According to the data provided by the international sea bulletin Lloyd’s List, the volumes of westbound sea container cargo between Europe and Asia declined by 21.1% during the first seven months of this year compared with the similar period of last year and reached 6.375 million TEU. The volumes of eastbound cargo reached 3.031 million TEU, a decrease of 7% year-on-year.
The container turnover between Europe and North America in Western direction declined by 19.1% during the first seven months of the year and reached 1.589 million TEU; in the Eastern direction the volumes declined by 31.7% to 1.417 million TEU. The container turnover in the Indian and Middle Eastern directions declined by 10.3% to 851.310 thousand TEU westbound and by 4.3% to 1.361 million TEU eastbound. Between Europe and Southern and Central Americas the container turnover declined by 13.5% to 876.296 million TEU on the westbound direction and by 26.6% to 492.890 TEU on the eastbound direction. On the Western Australian routes the turnover reached 120.849 million TEU (-9.5%), on the Eastern routes the volumes reached 199 thousand TEU (-20.7%). The cargo turnover with African countries (excluding the Mediterranean ports) has also declined. The shipping volumes on the Northern direction declined by 5.1% and reached 346 thousand TEU, on the Southern direction the volumes declined by 2.2% and reached 609.647 thousand TEU. The cargo turnover within Europe demonstrated positive dynamics on the Southern direction where cargo volumes reached 242.751 thousand TEU (+8.4%). On the Northern direction the cargo volumes declined by 5% and reached 330.924 thousand TEU. |
