The Liverpool Port Administration has announced new plans for developing the port container terminal capacities. According to the announcement, by 2020 the port development program presumes an introduction of new container capacities able to service 1 million TEU annually, and not 500,000 TEU as has been planned earlier. According to this program, two new container terminals will need to be built. Earlier it had been planned to build only one new terminal. Both terminals will be constructed in the areas formerly owned by military units.
